New Ek Knife

Here is the third knife in the new Ek Historical series. This is Ek Knives interpretation of an improved Fairbairn Sykes. The two fighting knives were contemporaneous and many soldiers preferred the plain Jane ruggedness of the Ek over the elegance of the Fairbairn. Bear in mind this specific model was not available though during WW-II.

The hard maple slab handles are held on by cast-in-place lead rivets, the old fashioned way. The full tang is shaped to resemble the FS even to the outline of a top nut. Typical of Ek Knives the blade is very sharp on both edges. It is nicely etched with the company name and my serial number, 007. A solidly made heavy leather sheath , a replica of the WW-II originals accompanies each knife. There are very few historical knives with the quality and battle-proven lineage of an Ek Knife. To further answer Jeff's question. Illustrated here is a copy of the Hammond Flesh Eater. The maker asked permission of James Hammond to produce this knife. It is a super fighting knife designed to allow four ranges by shifting your grip. Whether that makes it a better knife or not is questionable. But it is a very formidable knife in the right hands. The handle on this one is a little too fat to make  the best use of grip changes. That could be quickly remedied with a belt grinder. The blade is sharpened on the back edge. Recurved  blades are one of my favorite designs and this one is quite graceful. Hopefully the CRKT version is as good as it looks. The quality of their products has risen with every passing year.

It takes various guerilla action over the last 100 years and analyzes which ones worked and why, and also the other side of those who did not work.
