Mini Fairbairn Sykes Knives

On a quick note, prayers out for those injured in Boston and their relatives and loved ones. Unfortunately I also wonder how many more liberties will be stripped from us for this terror attack.

There is no end to the bad news nationally so I will try to write about something more cheery. Of late I have had the good fortune to communicate with several Fairbairn Sykes collectors around the world, primarily in North America. Some have preferred to remain anonymous. With over 17,000 visits already, our website has opened up possibilities that I never envisioned when I created it. One of the most fortuitous connections has been with Leroy Thompson, the prolific writer and “go-to” resource for many types of weapons. Leroy’s notable book “Commando Dagger” inspired me many years ago to embark on a journey to collect Fairbairn-Sykes knives. http://www.amazon.com/Commando-Dagger-Complete-Ilustrated-Fairbairn-Sykes/dp/0873643119/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1366074236&sr=8-2&keywords=commando+dagger

When Leroy contacted me through our links page to compliment our site I was exceedingly pleased! Over the next few months we began sharing information and photos. He has provided me with a lot of background information, filling in the holes in my personal knowledge. For that I am eternally grateful. When he offered me the opportunity to add some rare knives to our collection I jumped at it. Therefore we purchased the three mini’s illustrated on our website. He also provided photos of other rare specimens to share with you which are not our knives. Two more knives will be coming once I have raised the funds. That is always the painful part of collecting. We have a couple dozen excellent quality modern fighting knives for sale along with several Hanwei Japanese swords. These are all new items from our old webstore. Please contact me at ghdave2@hotmail.com  if you would like photos or descriptions. Some of them are listed in a previous posting in 2012.

to the specific page on our website for more photos and information on these unique weapons. There is a lot of controversy surrounding them but let me assure you, they are for real, they were not toys, and they were issued to WW-II Agents. Some people might say well how many little knives did they need? I recently read, from a very reputable source, that the average life span of an Agent behind German lines was three months. That makes for a lot of turnover, and I am quite sure the Germans did not return the knives after executing the Agents. Come on over to our website and look at the dozens of variations of the F/S Fighting Knife and its descendants.
