New Yorkers Fight Back

Here is a map showing the counties calling for a complete repeal of the unlawful NYS SAFE act. It is growing exponentially and shows the resolve of the people of western NY to rid ourselves of this onerous and unconstitutional law passed in the dark of night. This movement started out slow and has rapidly gained momentum. Today a 3rd rally is being held in Albany and they are expecting 10,000 protestors. Sorry the map is fuzzy but the message is clear! People we do have rights and unless we fight for them the government will continue to swallow them up. Fight for your Freedoms!

Carnecchia Osoraku Tanto

This is one magnificent tanto. It is based on a style called Osoraku with an extremely long and stout tip (kissaki). Justin Carnecchia of Idaho forged the blade finally stopping somewhere around 3500 layers he figures. The activity in the blade goes much further than the obviously eye-popping hamon. To really see it all you need to go out into the sunlight and roll it in your hand. This project was a  long term investment of Justin's time and sweat. The first blade cracked during the quench and set us back. Luckily the next one survived the tortuous ordeal of plunging red hot steel into water.

I asked Justin to use black same gawa on the handle and then a brown silk ito (wrap). This matches my "Peace" katana from Bugei Trading co. The handle is waisted in the best tradition giving it a much better feel in the hand despite the extra  difficulty in wrapping it. Justin also made the traditional copper hibaki. To hold the knife in your hand is to appreciate the lethality of such a weapon. The small tsubua (guard) is blued damascus and nicely shaped.

The natural colors in the wooden saya compliments the silk wrapping and and black ray skin. All in all you would be hard pressed to find a nicer tanto and this is one of Justin's first efforts at this. He makes other hand forged knives in bowie, fighter, and hunting styles. I don't even want to know how  many hours Justin put into this because I would really feel guilty.

We The People!

www.WeThePeopleofNY.org  Here is a link to a website that is launching a lawsuit and petition to rid us of the NY SAFE gun control bill which was passed in the middle of the night, against the NY and US constitution. PLease go to this link and sign the petition when it is ready and if you are as mad as I am sign on as a plaintant in the suit against the state for trying to criminalize us lawabiding citizens and to outlaw our legally owned firearms. PLEASE DO THIS if you value your freedoms and those of your children. We must stop the destruction of our rights as American citizens.

A Hero Murdered

Chris Kyle America's most famous sniper and member of SEAL Team 6 was tragically murdered (shot and killed) by a man while Mr. Kyle was teaching a class at a gun range in Texas. This is a terrible loss to the Armed Forces and all Americans. God Bless him and be with his survivors.
